Green was born on 6 July 1980, two minutes earlier than her fraternal twin sister Joy. She is the daughter of French actress and author Marlène Jobert and Walter Green, a Swedish dental surgeon and occasional actor in his youth (Au hasard Balthazar directed by Robert Bresson).
In early 2011, she co-starred with Rufus Sewell in the short-lived BBC One TV series Zen. Casino Royale won the Excellence in Production Design Award from the Art Directors Guild, and singer Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" won the International Press Academy Satellite Award for Best Original Song. Bond kills Gettler and his thugs, but in the process causes the building to flood and start sinking. After apologising to Bond, Vesper locks herself in the elevator just before it plunges into the waters below. Bond frantically tries to save her life, but in a final gesture, she kisses Bond's hands as if to absolve him of guilt and lets herself drown. Vesper has a terrible secret, however – she is a double agent working for the Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) and worked with Bond only because she was ordered to lure him into a trap. This man had been captured by SMERSH and revealed information about Vesper under torture. Hence, SMERSH was using this operative to blackmail Vesper into helping them.
Le Chiffre sets up a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro to win back the lost money. Bond attends with Treasury agent Vesper Lynd and wins, but Le Chiffre kidnaps Lynd and tortures Bond in an attempt to regain the winnings. They are saved when Mr White, a senior figure in terrorist organisation QUANTUM, kills Le Chiffre.
